Victron Solar Installations: Quality Vs. Cost

Victron is and always has been our first choice of equipment due to its reliability, high performance equipment and high quality monitoring platform, all making it a pleasure to work with. Victron has a different, independent item for each of the main ‘jobs’ that a solar system has, primarily Inverting (taking 48V DC and inverting it to 230V AC) and charging (using 300V DC to charge a 48V Battery), and each of these can be very specific in size. This allows us to build an extremely bespoke, yet easily expandable system, to meet anyone’s needs, and to accommodate just about any future need of expansion.

Victron Datasheet

Victron started building inverters in 1975 and focused largely on Marine application of renewable energy systems. They produced, from the start, extremely robust equipment that was generally expected to operate reliably, sometimes under very harsh, extreme conditions on a marine vessel. This quality proved to be very handy for conditions right here on the very corrosive Garden Route, especially if the house and solar equipment experience any sea breeze.

The vast range of Victron products allows us to build extremely bespoke, beautifully balanced systems, to best suit the clients’ needs, and this modularity makes adding equipment extremely easy and most efficient.

Inverters can be paralleled with the same model inverter (ie. A 5kVA Multiplus II Inverter can be paralleled with another of the same machine, to create a 10kVA ‘Inverter System’). This might be the case if a system needed to provide power to a whole additional dwelling, which can and does happen regularly. Usually, this future growth can be built-in to the plan from the start, like leaving a space for it on the board.

The quality and specificity of the online data capture and AI integration on Victron’s VRM online portal for Victron products, is superior to any other system we know.  With regular and consistent remote monitoring, trends are noticed that can aid in early fault detection. The option for distant/remote power management can be potentially invaluable, in optimizing the performance of the Solar System by way of controlling the loads, remotely. The ability to collate up to 5 years of data, gives one an invaluable tool in monitoring efficiency over time, and to note where, if any, the gaps are, that need filling.

All Victron equipment comes with a 5-year Warranty, extendable upon request.
