About

ecoSunergy Solar Installations

ecoSunergy is a Solar Power company based in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. Our focus is on installation and long-term management of premium Solar Systems, for residential or business clients, both grid-connected and off-grid. We are inspired by sustainability principles, to help clients transition to renewable energy autonomy and offset grid power(*). So, our systems are built to operate optimally, seamlessly, and for a long time.

What we do

We design and install Solar systems that most economically achieve the goals of the client, which perform optimally and last a life-time. This is why ecoSunergy Solar Systems are built with care and pride.

We use primarily Victron equipment due to its proven track record, reliability, longevity and excellent day-to-day performance.
The modularity of the Victron design allows easy addition of equipment, as power and energy requirements evolve with time. The VRM (Victron Remote Monitoring) platform is extremely user-friendly, allowing us and our clients to monitor their systems 24/7 from anywhere in the world. This ensures we are always able to check in on systems if and when necessary, assess valuable performance data and do remote firmware updates as required.

We will manage and monitor our new installations for the first year, after which we advise joining our annual maintenance program. This way you have peace of mind that your system will be monitored continuously, that it is working optimally all the time, and ensure that your investment lasts way beyond its financial payback.

We will meet with you to discuss your needs and goals with regards to what a solar system can provide, in the context of your property’s unique factors (like available and suitable roof space for mounting panels, where a solar system will best be mounted/housed), and give advice on the most suitable and cost-effective way to achieve this.
When building from plan, it is best to for us to be involved from the early stages to ensure that certain provisions have been made by the architect for the solar system. Roof inclines, roof aspects, and roof types used are more obvious factors, but also location of system, routing from system to roof, and shading of panels by other structures are all important considerations.

We use the best equipment we know, in Victron, and after many years of doing it this way, we know the equipment we use, best.

* Eskom (grid) provides power that is derived approximately 95% from Coal-fired power stations (burning fossil-fuels is the biggest culprit regarding the anthropogenic global warming phenomenon).

The team

Daryl Hunt

Daryl

Daryl, who was a registered veterinarian for 24 years, spent a year at the Sustainability Institute in Stellenbosch in 2012, and moved to the Crags in 2014.

When arriving on a farm with no Eskom connection, the opportunity arose to explore solar power, and he successfully built an off-grid solar system which still provides all the electricity to their property, which now has 4 separate dwellings.

An associate partnership was formed with Specialized Solar Systems (in George) in 2017 and he started to install systems for clients in 2018.

Erez Shneor

Erez

Erez has been in Plettenberg Bay for 20 years, and has an engineering background, and was in the building industry for many years. He joined forces with ecoSunergy in 2022. His experience with roofing structures is invaluable in assessing sites and establishing the best mountings achievable.

He has designed and successfully built several tilting ground-mount structures where this has been a requirement for the successful operation of specific solar systems.

Having transitioned off Eskom himself, his farm is now also off-grid and completely solar powered.

Owen Hough

Owen

Our installation team is managed by Owen and each member takes great pride in the high standard of work that befits the quality of the Victron equipment we install.

We all live in and around Plettenberg Bay, where we have now installed well over 100 solar systems. As a result we are always close-by and regard all our clients’ systems as part of the family, taking great pride in the fact that they all operate extremely well.
